PEUGEOT 607:
DESIGNED FOR PLEASURE

Stately and uncompromising; qualities that underlie the rich, powerful personality of Peugeot's new 607. Peugeot's flagship is aimed at the heart of the luxury car market. First of Peugeot's new "seven line" models, the 607 has inherited all the award-winning qualities of dynamism, style and aesthetics that one would expect from a manufacturer such as Peugeot.

Generous dimensions, intelligent and luxurious interior layout, power and safety are all hallmarks of the sleek new 607. Tehama  offer's one highly specified version of 607: a 152kW (210hp) 3.0-litre V6 with an auto-adaptive four-speed automatic transmission that features a Porsche Tiptronic-style sequential gear change.

607's extensive safety, comfort and convenience features include ESP (Electronic Stability Program), front, side and curtain air bags, low tyre pressure warning, and a sophisticated computer-controlled suspension system with driver-selectable modes and nine levels of damper settings.

Standard comfort and convenience equipment include full leather upholstery, automatic climate air conditioning with separate driver and passenger controls, a JBL ten-speaker CD acoustic system, power-operated front seats, windows, rear blind and
exterior mirrors, and cruise control. Software developed by BOSCH allows closer and more refined dialogue between the  automatic's computer, the engine management and various computers or sensors.

An entirely new intelligent control module (BSI) links the automatic transmission to the dynamic stability control, traction control system, ABS and the function and safety monitoring devices. Thanks to this new more powerful software, 607 can recognise the driving style of the driver from more parameters and hence more precisely, and by interpolation predict his
or her intentions.

The interconnection of these various systems and sensors, in the form of a multiplexed network can, for example, assess the terrain encountered using a progress resistance formula and the torque data from the engine. The management system recognises five different gradients and three formulae to adapt driving to the topography.

On the centre console, the gear selector lever moves through a "staircase" gate that has four positions: P, R, N and D. The selector can be moved to the left to "M", where the driver can change up or down by pushing the lever forward or pulling it back. This emulates a manual transmission shift change, giving the driver full control over the engine
